Note | |
If errors occur when running the command line, see the following; |
Note | |
There may be ERROR dialog boxes regarding the failed mount of existing shared folders. With a missing but referenced drive, this is to be expected. When all shares are redirected, these error messages will stop. |
Note | |
When physical drives are removed, the device names of the remaining drives may change. Drive UUID's, however, do NOT change. Accordingly, insure that the drive selected in the File System field is the rsync backup drive. If necessary, check the destination drive UUID in the Scheduled Task rsync command line against the UUID in Storage, File Systems, to insure that the right device name is selected in the File System field above (in this example the device name is /dev/sdb1).Further |

In consideration of the time required to "write" a clone: If the user/admin is running a business or is in another time sensitive scenario, where the NAS server can not be out of service for an extended period; the server can be booted on the source drive while the clone is being written. Thereafter, the drive swap could be accomplished after-hours or during a low use period. |
Note | |
Depending on the size and speed of the flash media being used, the speed of USB port and other factors, the write operation may take from 15 minutes up to an hour or more. |
